The Davallia Fern (Davallia fejeensis) is a sweet, whimsical house plant with delicate fronds and distinctive furry rhizomes that resemble the paws of rabbits. Rabbit's foot ferns are frequently grown as hanging or potted plants with the exposed hairy roots spilling out of the container. Rabbit's foot fern grows best in humid conditions, out of direct light, and warm temperatures.
Habitat: Will grow 30-60cm indoors. Avoid draughts. Does well in a warm, humid environment.
Light: Likes dappled light or partial shade, do not expose to direct sunlight.
Water: Keep the soil moist, but do not over-water. Like most plants, over-watering will cause root rot. Avoid watering the central stem (rhizome) of the plant.
Soil: Will be happy in a bark/peat-based soil mixed with an orchid mix through it to help create a free-draining medium.
Fertiliser: Ferns do not require too much additional fertiliser, other than diluted amounts during growth periods.
